Glen Kessler is one of our oldest Super Geekers from way back in Episode 12, our first listener to wear a Geekin’ On WDW t-shirt in the parks and he first coined the phrase “It’s 11am somewhere” .
Jeff McCartney wants to know about the Illuminations dessert party or something special to do
Rumor is soarin may be going down for long refurb in January
- Soarin’ will undergo expansion in the coming months. When work is complete in late 2016, the attraction will include a new film, Soarin’ Around the World, as well as an additional theater. The new film will feature an aerial tour of the globe above some of the world’s most iconic landmarks on every continent. Soarin’ will also get updates to its screens and projection system, bringing a visually enhanced experience. The attraction is expect to remain open during most of this work, although some sources say a 6 month closure is possible
Glen’s Trip Report
4:20am shuttle bus to airport
I forgot the double stroller!!!
Kids fell asleep on Magical Express—couldn’t get them to wake up when we got to Contemporary, LOL!
BLT–beautiful, clean, and spacious….and we LOVED being a short walk from MK
All my planning and research really helped me maximize our trip, but it’s a double-edged sword–so many in my party couldn’t or wouldn’t go commando, so it became frustrating for all
4-yr-old AJ and I are commandos…the rest of our group, not so much—he and I did every ride in Epcot except Ellen…the others did Spaceship Earth only
Turtle Talk–legitimately funny for adults and kids
Met Mickey and Goofy
Very hot first 3 days
Day 1:
Very first people to arrive at MK—still dark out; just us and the security guards
Alden screamed through the Morning Show at MK
The kids love the rides—Peter Pan, Pooh, Enchanted Tales, Buzz, Pirates, Haunted Mansion
Gaston’s Tavern–cinnamon bun and LeFou’s Brew were great
Be Our Guest lunch–tasty but I’d only do there again at dinner
Day 2:
Hollywood & Vine character breakfast—kids were star-struck
Jedi Academy–incredible
First Time In Forever Sing-along—historians are hilarious, especially Eric
Extra magic—6 unattached FPs to Epcot!!
Parents watch the elder 2 kids, but Sarah won’t leave the baby
Epcot F&W Festival—tasty and fun
Disney Nerds/Mouseketeer podcast meetup—neat
Day 3:
Jock Lindsey’s Hangar bar–outstanding food and impeccable theming
Disney Springs–gorgeous!
Ft Wilderness and Trail’s End—lovely change of pace, literally
2 AM Magic Kingdom—unforgettable (12 rides in 4 hours, including 7 coasters)
Day 4:
Mine Train—AJ’s “favorite ride”
Pirate’s League–great fun getting into character
Kid’s Night Out—amazing service
Dinner at Kona Café–so so for the price, but Polynesian resort was so gorgeous we want to stay there next time
Day 5:
The real benefit of BLT is revealed—squeezed in 2 quick trips to MK between naps
Nap room at Contemporary at no charge
