On episode 468 of the podcast, Glen Kessler gave some great tips on getting the most out of Genie Plus.
Here’s my notes:
- Set alarms during the day on your phone
- 5 minutes before you need to make a choice in Genie Plus
- Be aware of wifi speed vs. data – Speed test apps on phone
- Get the best speed possible
- Lots of people on Disney property will be using Disney wifi; data may be better
- If your off property, wifi may be better speeds
- Tip Board and MyDay – Set your party way ahead at 6am on myDisney app
- Stack your Tip Board – One or maybe two rides to start
- Don’t pay attention to what the app suggests
- Pick the hardest and favorite ride including if your buying individual lightning lane
- Virtual queue like Guardians of Galaxy at this time
- Milliseconds matter – Go for your favorite first!
- Individual payed lighting lines fill up in like 5 minutes
- You want later in the day for your Genie Plus reservations(Like 4pm)
- Example day – 8:30 Epcot opening
- Had Guardians lightning lane 8:20am and Remy for morning
- At rope drop in Epcot, booked 8:30am Peter Pan for 4:30, 10am for Jungle Cruise 6pm, 12pm Splash for 5:20pm, 2pm booked Big Thunder for 4pm
- You can park hop with this strategy; Hopping has to be after 2pm
- Make sure you set your alarm for every 2 hours(5 minutes before) so you book quickly your Genie reservations
- Look at the tip board at 5 minutes before you book
- The closer to stay to this schedule, the quicker you’ll get your choices throughout the day
- Seconds matter throughout the day; Your two hour wait for your next choice is cumulative
